MAD21 in Random Gifts, Year of the Birthday, Year of the Birthday

Beth's 30th birthday was in January. She planned a large party for her friends and family. I managed to score an invitation to the event. I went to Philadelphia the day before to help her set up.

Some of the additional items that I brought with me were as follows: gift bags, tissue paper, and various leftover Christmas ornaments. I was prepared for item number three on the Year of the Birthday list. It was our plan to leave random presents on random people's doorsteps. Beth had a list of random people. We were set.

As the children were getting ready for bed, we were designating ornaments for random people and wrapping them in tissue paper. We took some photos, and got ready to head out the door armed with a flashlight.

Beth's mom asked us where we were going. Instead of answering, we looked at her like deer in the headlights. She saw the flashlight and told us that she would not pay our bail. We chuckled and loaded the gift bags into the car.

We had a lot of fun. We set off motion detectors, barking dogs, and a sprinkler. At one point, Beth started driving away before I got my foot all the way back in the car. We felt so alive. I would describe the event in more detail, but you never know for sure who is reading this. Uh. I'm sure if you found an ornament on your doorstep in mid-January that it wasn't us. Right.

The last time I heard, no one on Beth's random list had mentioned the gifts. They have probably already drawn their own unsubstantiated conclusions about the bags. If only they knew that there was no motivation other than an item crossed off a list and some hilarious video clips.
