One of my best friends and her husband, lovingly known as Aunt K and Uncle C by my daughters, came by for a visit last week for my oldest's birthday. While Uncle C may look like the tall, strong retired police officer that he is, to my girls, he is just another kid. While Aunt K and I were visiting, Uncle C was on the floor playing with Barbies, Littlest Pet Shop and PollyPocket dolls, voices and all. (Which alone would be funny enough to recall for this post, but I'll leave that to your imagination for now.)
At one point, my oldest ran down the hall back to her room. Once there, she yells, "Uncle C, come back here! ....and bring your doll!!" Upon hearing this, we all started to laugh to which my oldest replied, "By the way, that's not funny!" Which of course, only made us laugh more, to which she then replied, "STILL not funny!"
I am so grateful that we have people in our lives that love our children as if they were their own. People who will build forts with them; read late into the night with them; swim with them until they are exhausted and shivering; tickling and giggling with them; and filling their lives with warm and wonderful moments. I pray that one day our girls will see how lucky they are, and spend many hours laughing at all the memories.
My friend and fellow blogger Wendy at Weight..What? has a fun carnival at her blog called "Life is Funny." Every Monday we talk about something in life that we find funny. Be sure to go visit her blog to read her post along with links to other blogs who are participating.
