My family had a great weekend. We spent all day Saturday swimming and all afternoon Sunday riding horses. It can't get much better than that, especially when the weather is cooperating. It was a wonderful way to start the summer.

We have some friends who we love enough we consider them family. My daughters call them Aunt and Uncle. My daughters were in their oldest daughter's wedding last year. As much as my girls LOVE Aunt K, there is a special connection with Uncle C. Perhaps because at any given moment he is helping them build a cool hiding place, playing with Barbie dolls, wearing giant purple dress-up hats, sneaking them sweets, or tossing them in the pool. For the rest of us it's just fun to watch considering Uncle C is a tall, big guy who is a retired police officer. So to see him playing Barbies or dress-up is, well, hilarious to say the least.

It was at Aunt K and Uncle C's house we were swimming at on Saturday. We were all very excited to go visit them. It's been a long while, and it was the first time we could go swimming with them this season. While we were on our way up there, our youngest says from the backseat:

Youngest: "Mommy?"

Me: "Yes?"

Youngest: "I like Aunt K."

Me: "Oh, really? Why is that?"

Youngest: "Because she has a pool <pause> and Uncle C."

Aunt K was happy that she could have Uncle C for my youngest to play with, you know, because all the lucky girls have wonderful men like Uncle C in their lives. And as usual, the girls had a ton of fun playing in the pool with all of us, but they were full of joy having Uncle C tossing them around, and sneaking them sweets.

We love you Aunt K and Uncle C. Thanks for loving us so much.

My friend and fellow blogger Wendy at Weight..What? has a fun carnival at her blog called "Life is Funny." Every Monday we talk about something in life that we find funny. Be sure to go visit her blog to read her post along with links to other blogs who are participating.
