Two Defining Characteristics of a Biblically-Minded Servant-Leader

At our School, our vision is to train up a generation of Biblically-minded servant-leaders who will lead the church and the culture toward righteousness. As we have been fleshing out, as a staff, what this means, we have focused much of our attention on two very key characteristics for our students: Wisdom and Eloquence. For years I have spoken about the importance of wisdom. Proverbs emphasizes the central importance of wisdom again and again – “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom.” - Proverbs 4:7

Faith In Christ, Love For The Saints

I taught a Sunday school class recently. In preparing the lesson and teaching on 1 Thessalonians 3, I was struck by Paul's use of the phrase "faith and love" and the expanded form of it "faith in Christ and love toward all the saints," which he uses 7 or 8 times in his letters as a measure of what it really means to be a Christian.

God Calling...

I once took an "Inner Healing Class" through my home church. I was blown away by what I learned.

We covered the questions of "Does God speak to us? Does He want us to hear Him?" and "How do we hear Him?" These may seem like such simple questions, but I think a lot of us struggle with them. I know that I have asked, "Why would God choose to speak to me?" I sometimes wrestle with the idea that the creator of the universe would actually want to take the time to speak into my life, but this is the kind of relationship the Father deeply desires. He wants us to run to Him, and then He wants us to listen.
