YOB: #9. Learn To Belly Dance

By Beth

If anyone who knows either Lara or me is reading this, they are probably having a good laugh already. Neither Lara nor I are known for our grace. We fall down, a lot; bump into things/people, a lot; and generally trip over our own two feet. So the idea of us trying to belly dance is simply laughable.

I don't remember how it got on the list. Perhaps we are gluttons for punishment? We knew ahead of time that the items on the list would be well documented, why would either one of us choose to subject ourselves to that? I guess, in the end, we simply thought it would make US laugh so it would be fun to try. Neither one of us expected to be any good. Apart from a picture I vaguely remember seeing of Lara in a tutu, I don't know that we really can say we had any dance experience going into this. My daughter dances, has since she was 4. She is 13 now and let's just say that she can do things with her body that I could never do!

Silly Fears -- No, Really.

By Mallory

Carla: The reason I don’t touch the seat when I go to the bathroom isn’t because of germs, but because I’m afraid of toilet snakes.

Elliot: And now so am I.

- Scrubs

For anyone growing up, nervousness and fear regarding the future and the ‘real world’ seem normal. But I know a lot of my fears are unhealthy. While life will always continue to get more complex, I sometimes treat the future like it contains way too much doom and gloom. But as I try to find peace about my more serious fears, I’ve noticed I have a lot of irrational fears, too. Here’s a list of some of them. All of these have crossed my mind at one point or another, but you’ll see that they’re really not too serious.

Life Is Funny: Mixing Up Words

By MAD21

My friend and fellow blogger Wendy at Weight..What? talked me into participating in her blog carnival called "Life is Funny." Every Monday we talk about something in life that we find funny. So. Here we go...

Our oldest daughter has been talking about going to Kindergarten for what seems like forever. So when the time finally came for her to go, to say she was excited is an understatement.

As the day got closer, I could tell she was starting to get more apprehensive because she kept asking me about what Kindergarten would be like. At this point I should explain that my daughter has been going to part-time preschool for two years and LOVES school. She loves everything about it: friends; teachers; play; hearing stories and reading them; learning; and HOMEWORK (Yes, I got that in writing!)

What Does Your Family Do For Fun?

By Kevin (Shooting the Breeze)

I believe that it is very important for families to have fun together. As the old adage goes “A family that plays together stays together” (that is an old adage, right?) This is so true. Having fun together helps build a healthy family. Having fun together helps develop a healthy family image – a family that the kids and parents are excited to be a part of. Here are some of the things that we do for fun as a family:

You Can Make A Difference..

By Chuck (Sharing Compassion)

Yes. You can make a difference.......

So often we don't think we can't so we don't. What if we could make a difference? What if each of us reached out just a little to a child in need and tried to make that difference. What if what we did changed the world in the next five years?

Welcome to my little fantasy (click to view):

Of course this is just a fun little video-but you know what? It could happen, you could make a difference- lives could be changed. Not just the child's but yours...will you consider it?

Blessings <><
