Works For Me Wednesday: Game Storage

By MAD21

We've been looking for ideas regarding storage/functionality while creating a playroom in our house. I've written before about the fight to keep our house from turning into a giant toy box. I'm always looking for good ideas regarding how to make toys accessible but also easily storable.

We came across an idea that totally fits within those needs, but is also an awesome idea regarding decorating the playroom itself.

Act Your Age

By Sarah (Living Between the Lines)

When I turned 25 years old, I had a minor meltdown.  I sat on my friend Rick’s couch and just wailed about how I was “getting ready to be thirty!”  I just thought that my life was over!  Rick, bless his heart, had the patience of Job and though I’m sure he rolled his eyes, he listened and tried to sympathize.

When I turned 29 years old, I really started to panic.  I saw 30 rolling in like a freight train and all I could focus on was what I felt I had missed in life.  For a few months, I caught myself really whining at God about it.  But my 30th birthday came and went and soon I noticed that 30 wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was.

"Because I Said So!"

By MAD21

I was reading Kristen's blog, We Are THAT Family, yesterday. She had a great post called, "Things I Say in a Day." In it she listed the funny "momisms" she finds herself saying to her kids. It was so fun reading her list, as well as all the comments she received, but all I could think of was Bill Cosby. He has a fabulous video called, "Bill Cosby Himself" that he filmed in 1983. It has always been one of my favorites because it's just so funny (and real). The majority of his material in his video is related to family, and even though I was only a teenager when I first saw it, it was still funny. But now, as a parent, it has taken on a whole new meaning and hilarity.

Life Is Funny: Dead Fish!

By MAD21

About a month ago, I posted an article regarding what we do in our house to determine who goes first when we do things. Playing Rock, Paper, Scissors is a silly game that my girls love and are usually happy with the outcome.

That being said, there are a few times when things don't quite work out the way we plan. Our youngest has recently been choosing the same thing every time we play, something our oldest has picked up on. So needless to say, our youngest has been losing... a lot.

Fingerprint Friday: Forces of Nature

By MAD21

We are buried. Almost literally. We received almost 30 inches of snow last weekend. It took us three days to remove the snow from our driveways and sidewalks. I talked about the blizzard that dumped on us HERE and HERE.

Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday, we got another 16 inches. I love snow and all the work and play it brings, but even for me, this is a bit excessive. I'm not complaining though. Unlike a lot of the people around here, I see this kind of thing as a great opportunity. Not only do we get to spend some time working and playing with family and friends, but it brings out the neighbors and provides great opportunities to serve others by helping them shovel out their driveways.
