No Smiling
Are you kidding me? According to USA Today, "Four States Adopt A 'No-Smiles' Policy For Driver's Licenses." As if the pictures on our licenses don't look bad enough as it is.

With Pixar's release of the movie “Up!” they continue the huge string of successful films they've crafted since 1995. These movies, produced by a group of individuals who felt that the future of animation was with computer animation, not by hand-drawn still images. Critics of the computer animation methodologies lack warmth or character. In fact, staying with the old school method of drawing was probably a great downfall of the Disney Studio's animation department. The acquisition of Pixar by Disney was a recognition that using computers as tools for animation is necessary to complete films on time and on budget with what Hollywood wants. Hollywood isn't really about making entertainment. Hollywood is about making money. Pixar had one shot with Toy Story, and if they hadn't pulled it off, they (and the computer animation methods) might have been set back by years.

During the summer months and the kids are out of school, and you are trying to find things to do, check out Activities for Kids for some ideas. They have everything from planning a party (printable invites to party themes and games), arts and crafts, recipes, and my favorite: The Summer Internet Calendar. You can use theirs, or create your own based on some of the things they have on theirs-it's a GREAT idea.
So don't just just plop the kids down in front of a DVD or mindless TV, set out on an adventure of exploring the internet as a learning experience for you and your children, plan dates to go to museums, specialized camps, the zoo, or make a cool new recipe.
Whatever you do, just make sure to spend time with your kids. They love every minute they have with you.
Have a great summer.

Well we have returned from Honduras after an awesome week with Compassion International. How do I describe an incredible week in just a few short sentences? It is not easy. First off we had a great team. There were sponsors from all walks of live-young and old all with different spiritual gifts- all coming together for a God driven purpose on this trip. Karen and I especially connected with Beth and Linda. Beth is an independent music artist and hosts a Christian radio program in Minneapolis. She presents Compassion in her concerts but had never taken a tour like this. Linda is a fellow advocate who (like us) was returning to Honduras for the second time. Both of these became close friends and people we could debrief with.
