Have You Been Bailed Out?

By Heather, CPA (Balance with Purpose)

Have you been bailed out? If so, I want to hear about it.

My husband and I were chit-chatting about Obama’s Economic Stimulus Package and concluded we know of only one couple who benefited by one of the programs developed and passed by congress in 2009. ONE COUPLE, who benefited from ONE portion of the 2009 bail out. And we know people. We have friends all over the country, and only one of them, that we know of, took advantage of one of the economic incentives that are/were available as part of the Economic Stimulus Package.

So, I want to hear from you. Have you benefited from any of the programs developed as a result of the stimulus package?

Did you participate in “Cash for Clunkers?”

Did you purchased a home and are entitled to a new home-buyer’s credit on your taxes?

Have you received extended unemployment benefits?

Did you get to keep your job or land a new job as a result of stimulus funds (ex. construction road projects)?

Do you work for a financial institution that received federal bailout money?

Maybe you benefited in some other way entirely. If so, please share your story.

I didn't receive anything, but I know I gave. As did my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

We've seen nothing. Nada. Zip. And are actually worried about what our tax return will look like this year....

We did have one friend who was almost able to do the clunkers thing, but then found out at the last minute that it didn't qualify on one little thing. Believe me. It was a clunker (right, Erika?). Would have been nice for her to have benefited from this particular bailout.

Nope. We are not on the receiving end of any of the bailout money. I don't actually know anyone who is.

My parents tried to do Cash for Clunkers and the 20 yr old car they have didn't qualify. I haven't heard anything positive at this point from anyone!

Being from Canada, we did not receive any benefit from the US Economic Stimulus Package and I am totally upset about that! Okay, not really. ;)

Well, Kevin, it sounds like you received as much as most Americans I've heard from. So, good for you! I knew Canadians and Americans had a lot in common.
