Fingerprint Friday: Signs of Summer

By MAD21

One of the things I love most about summer is fresh fruits and vegetables. Vine ripened strawberries, snap peas, peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and we can't forget about corn!! But I have to admit that aside from an attempt to grow carrots as a child, I have never had my own garden. I've always just benefited from the fruits of my friend's wonderful gardens.

When shopping for our flowers this spring, my daughter's asked if we could get a tomato plant (it was at their eye-level and they saw the picture of the plant). I thought... why not?  So we got a little cherry tomato plant, a strawberry plant, and two kinds of pepper plants. They were only a few dollars each, so I figured if they didn't survive, it wouldn't be an expensive loss.

I am happy to say that we now have our very first ever tiny little tomatoes, and the strawberries are not far behind. One of the pepper plants has a few tiny flower buds beginning to grow, so hopefully we will soon see something growing from them, too.

No one can argue that new growth is a giant fingerprint of God. For only he can give life. And I thank him for that!

Fellow blogger Beki at The Rusted Chain has a really great weekly post she does every Friday called "Fingerprint Friday." We are to look around and see where we can see God's fingerprints. Is it in nature? Kids? Animals? Anywhere? Go find out where Beki saw God this week, and be sure to check out the other bloggers who linked their stories as well.

That's great that your plants are alive and well! I never do very well with growing things. We're going to have a weekly farmer's market at work starting next week, and I will enjoy buying fresh farm produce during the summer. Yum!

Love watching the garden bloom! It's always amazing to see something that looks dead come to life -- and produce abundance!

My mother has given me admiration for growing things.

Everything around us is truly a fingerprint of God.
