Go... Make a Difference

Two Years of Anticipation

By Chuck (Sharing Compassion)

It's time to return to Honduras on another Compassion Sponsor Tour. To say we can't wait is an understatement. This time we have three children to see. The team has been assembled by God and the adventure is about to begin. Starting today and throughout the trip I am going to blog our story. Two years ago I kept a journal but now I will blog it onto my site. Feel free to join me and to check it daily (well, hopefully daily) as to what has happened.

I have a lot to share including some of the stuff God has been doing with our team, some of the people that he has brought together and of course my thoughts on going back. The last time my life was changed! Who knows what He has in store this time.

Teens Making A Difference

By Chuck

Often we hear that teens don't "get it." They are wrapped up in texting, Facebook/My Space or too into themselves to really care. This past weekend I worked a conference downtown called "Acquire the Fire." This is a teen event to promote Christian growth and development among other things. Many vendors were there and I of course was there helping at the Compassion booth for child sponsorships.

Does Compassion Work?

By Chuck (Sharing Compassion)

I am often asked, "Do Compassion's programs really work. Does it make a difference in a child's life?" I have written of my own experience and seeing the difference it has made in my sponsored children's lives. However, maybe I am biased...

Actually, I am not- there are countless stories from sponsors, advocates, even children about how lives have been changed.

Compassion has a program known as, "The Leadership Development Program (LDP)." This program identifies future leaders within the sponsorship program and offers them a chance to attend the University and further their education. Similar to child sponsorship this is the next level.

I offer here a YouTube video of Michelle Tolentino, a former sponsored child and a graduate of the LDP. She talks about her life in poverty and the impact that Compassion had. She is now doing graduate work at Moody. She is an excellent testimony to the fact that the programs do work!!! Sit back for about seven minutes and decide for yourself.

A Quest For Compassion

By Chuck (Sharing Compassion)

Quest For Compassion is a great site sponsored by Compassion International that is ideal for kids.

It is designed for kids ages 6-10 (but of course some of us are kids at heart). It is a great way to learn about Compassion as well as giving them a perspective of what a child's life in the developing world may be like. I think you will find it engaging and entertaining.
