Fingerprint Friday: Second Families

By MAD21

During this week for being thankful, there were several opportunities to see God's fingerprints. Probably the most important one for me is the one that appears as family and friends. I am so blessed to have married into such a wonderful group of people. It's been over nine years, and they still haven't kicked me out! That should say something about their character (either crazy or just very accepting of terribly imperfect people).

Thank you God, for loving me through others. And for using me to show your love for them.

Fellow blogger Beki at Pampering You has a really great weekly post she does every Friday called "Fingerprint Friday." We are to look around and see where we can see God's fingerprints. Is it in nature? Kids? Animals? Anywhere? Go find out where Beki saw God this week, and be sure to check out the other bloggers who linked their stories as well.

Life is Funny: Thump In The Night

By MAD21

I had gone to bed early that evening. I was tired from a long day, and not much sleep the night before. I had been asleep for almost two hours when something woke me up. Something was making a loud thumping noise.  It would stop for a second, and then a rustling noise, then thump again. I thought it was my hubby doing something out in the living room, but no. <sigh> So I get out of my cozy warm bed and stomped out into the hallway.

What, or who, do I find?? You'll never guess... My cat, KC, had found something to play with. But this item wasn't any of her usual toys, not even the things she usually steals off the kitchen counters or tables when we aren't looking. No. This evening my cat doesn't steel away with small toys, or toy parts, or even her usual thievery of my daughter's small stuffed animals... No. That night, my cat decided she wanted to play with an AVOCADO. Yes. I have a crazy cat who likes to play. And makes a toy out of anything. Including fruits and veggies... Never a dull moment in my house. I think I've seen it all now.

Life Is Funny: That Was Totally Wicked!

By MAD21

We were on our way to church yesterday and our girls were doing their usual chatting in the backseat. I have no idea what they were talking about, I admit I wasn't paying much attention. That is until I heard these words come out of my youngest.... "That was totally wicked!" I whipped my head around and asked, "What did you say?" In case I hadn't heard her correctly. Being 3.5 she still gets her words mixed up. I thought maybe she had said something else that just sounded like that.

My youngest started giggling, as did my oldest. She again said, "That was totally wicked!" This time with more feeling. I started laughing and asked, "where did you hear those words?" Then I got, "Moooom, Incredibles. I love The Incredibles." I should have known. This is one of our family's favorite movies and we had just watched it again last Friday. We love that little neighbor boy. Funny how someone who is only seen 2-3 times can have one of the best lines in the movie. I think there is a life lesson in there somewhere.

Life Is Funny: Bees (aka Little Monsters In Yellow Jackets)

By MAD21

I am not a big fan of bugs. I mean, I don't mind them at all when they leave me alone. But that rarely happens. I think they all have a pact amongst themselves that when they see me coming, they all come running, flying, crawling and ...buzzing.

Last week was no different. Tuesday is a busy day for us. Both daughters in school, riding lessons, etc. We usually have a 'picnic in the car' for lunch on the way to the farm after school. I ran out of time to make lunches, so I thought I would be a good Mom and treat my girls to Mc'D's for lunch. We don't eat there very often, so I knew they would be very excited.

So I picked up my youngest from school and we headed to the Golden Arches. Then we headed back to the school to wait for my oldest to get out of class. We sat in the parking lot chatting with another mother. I was eating my hamburger, my youngest was happily munching on her fries and chicken. Then my oldest came out of the building with her class. I'll mention here that it had been about 10 minutes with no bugs (bees!!) in sight.

Life Is Funny: Videos

By MAD21

We had a rough week last week in our family. Lots on the calendar. Tempers flared. There was crying over socks "not fitting right" and "skirts falling down" and "wrinkles in the bed" (note that none was really an issue). Life didn't feel so funny at the time. But on the worst of days, there are a few things I know that work to change the attitudes of my girls. It may only last for a little while, but I'll take any refuge I can get!

The following videos are sure to bring the biggest belly laughs from my girls. I thought I'd share them with you. Maybe you can use them when life doesn't seem to be so funny.
