Fingerprint Friday: Mechanics and Plumbers, Oh My!

By MAD21

I had to have my car worked on again this week. At least this time we knew what was wrong...and how much it would cost to fix ($120-could be much worse!). We knew because summer before last, it did the same thing. Which brings me to the fingerprint I'm reminded of every time we have problems with our cars.

If you are an adult with responsibilities, there are a few people that are really important to have in your life. A good plumber (your the best John P at Custom Mechanical Services), and a good auto mechanic. I have to say without doubt, we have one of the best mechanics (Bob at Faby's). Not only does he do an awesome job taking care of our cars at amazing prices, he is a guy with great honor and respect for his customers.

When our car broke down summer before last, it wasn't just your ordinary day out running errands. It was the middle of August and I'd just spent two days packing the car (every square inch inside and in the car top carrier) for a week at the beach (9-10 hours away). Everyone was packed into the car ready to go. All we had to do was stop at the mall to pick up something and we were on our way.

Sounds easy enough, right? Well, when I came back out of the mall to the car where my family had been waiting with the car running, we noticed a burning smell, the engine light came on, and the engine temp was off the charts. Trying not to freak out, we drove straight over to our mechanics in hopes we'd find help, and an answer to prayer.

Now, you have to understand that the fact that our mechanic is good, is not lost on our community. Meaning, if you need car work done, you have to get squeezed into their schedule, usually having to wait at least a week or two, sometimes more, to get in to have him do the needed work. When we got there, the usual build up of cars in the parking lot waiting to be worked on was no shock.

Long story short, Bob and two of his other mechanics dropped everything they were doing to find the problem and fix it so we could be on our way. Two of them worked on getting to the part that needed replaced, while one of them drove to the store that had the part we needed (because they couldn't deliver it soon enough). We were only delayed a total of about 2 hours.

Oh, the many, many things that could have gone wrong. You can only imagine. This is such a good example of why it's so important for us all to remember to do our best at whatever we are doing in our lives. At our place of work, at home, at school, etc. You never know what fingerprints God may leave through you on another person.

Fellow blogger Beki at Pampering You has a really great weekly post she does every Friday called "Fingerprint Friday." We are to look around and see where we can see God's fingerprints. Is it in nature? Kids? Animals? Anywhere? Go find out where Beki saw God this week, and be sure to check out the other bloggers who linked their stories as well.

Thanks for such an uplifting story. In this economy, it's so nice to hear tales of business people who go out of their way to serve their customers, even if it is an older story. Very heart-warming!

Thanks. It may be an older story, but I know they'd do it again if they could. They are that great.
