Friends Are Precious Gifts

By Pat

One of the things I am most thankful for every day of my life is my friends. They are such a vital part of my life. Most of my friends are scattered about, and their lives, like mine, are busy. Sometimes it's hard to stay as connected as we might like. And some of my friends are really just acquaintances that I don't really know well at all, and who don't really know me.

But whether good friend or acquaintance, the Holy Spirit and the power of prayer connect us in a way that is very comforting and special. God's power and love turns prayer warriors into friends! It's such a comfort to me to know that I need only ask my friends to pray for me and they do...as I do for them.

The wonderful power of prayers is always at work! Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 tells us "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

Simply put, we were not made to be solitary creatures. No matter what we're going through, no matter how alone we may feel, the prayers of friends will lift us up and carry us through. So remember, whatever is going on with you, someone is lifting your name to God, and He hears! I give thanks to all of my friends and to the God who gave me the precious gift of their friendship!
