A Weight-Loss Strategy

By Kevin (Shooting the Breeze)

I am by no means a weight loss expert but I have learned a few things through experience. Here is a funny but very sound strategy to weight loss:

I think this video illustrates some important truths when it comes to weight loss.  I have experienced all of these truths first hand.  First, it can be very simple.  It is just a matter of eating less and moving more. Now, that being said, it is simple but not necessarily easy.  It is going to mean making some different and sometimes difficult choices. Second, it doesn’t have to cost lots of money.  You don’t have to pay for a program or for special food. You can continue to buy your food (although different food) from your local grocery store. And finally, there is no quick fix to weight loss.  We all want the quick fix but that is not how it works.  It is going to take some work and some time.  It is well worth the effort though.

What truths about weight loss have you learned through experience?

Kevin Martineau has been married 16 years and has three beautiful daughters (10, 7 and 4). He has the honour of serving God through his role as Pastor at Port Hardy Baptist Church on Northern Vancouver Island, British Colubia. He enjoys blogging, reading, photography and watching hockey.

Recipe Search Engine

By MAD21

SUPER NATURAL RECIPE SEARCH

"Search for natural, delicious, whole food recipes."

Yes, a search engine just for recipes. This one is a really great one. On my first try, I typed in 'bananas' and at the top of the list was an amazing recipe for banana chip cookies (from 101 Cookbooks). You can also type in your favorite chef to see if they have any favorite recipes from them.

While the engine includes recipes from many different sources, Heidi Swanson, the creator of the engine, states: "This search engine will not query each of the sites in its index in its entirety. Instead, I went through each site page by page, cherry-picking the recipes I could imagine cooking in my own kitchen - again, the ones highlighting whole grains, natural sweeteners, a wide range of flours, and plenty of fresh produce. I populated the search engine with those. A couple thousand to start. And while I don't cook with, say, eggplant or okra very often, there are many cooks who I admire that do - this search engine allows me to highlight those cooks and their recipes here."

Just like some of the recipe sites I've talked about before, this one also includes comments from people. So when you find a recipe that looks interesting to you, you can look and see what other people have said about it. Whether it's a good one or not, and maybe some variations you can try until you find one just right for you.

Hungry Girl

By MAD21

A great website to check out for good deals, coupons, food advice and information is "Hungry Girl" where they have,"Tips and Tricks for Hungry Chicks."

Some of the topics they cover are, "Diet and Nutrition Headlines." "Fabulous finds and disastrous discoveries revealed...Eat 'em up!" "Dishing out Advice." Etc.

For example, right now they have a news story on some new items that were spotted at the grocery store. They purchased them, tried them out, and then wrote about what what they thought about the product.

Go check it out. Stop being hungry. Or at least get advice on what to eat so you aren't hungry!
