Life Is Funny: Bring Your Doll!

By MAD21

One of my best friends and her husband, lovingly known as Aunt K and Uncle C by my daughters, came by for a visit last week for my oldest's birthday. While Uncle C may look like the tall, strong retired police officer that he is, to my girls, he is just another kid. While Aunt K and I were visiting, Uncle C was on the floor playing with Barbies, Littlest Pet Shop and PollyPocket dolls, voices and all. (Which alone would be funny enough to recall for this post, but I'll leave that to your imagination for now.)

Tasty Bites: Are We There Yet?

By Candy, RN (Steele the Day)

Preparing for vacation is daunting. Count underwear, match one pair of shoes with four outfits, and find someone to feed the cat. Rarely does the preparation turn to you – are you physically ready for your trip? It’s important not to forsake healthy habits in the haste of making your plans. Sometimes it's hard to stay as connected as we might like. And some of my friends are really just acquaintances that I don't really know well at all, and who don't really know me.

But whether good friend or acquaintance, the Holy Spirit and the power of prayer connect us in a way that is very comforting and special. God's power and love turns prayer warriors into friends! It's such a comfort to me to know that I need only ask my friends to pray for me and they do...as I do for them.

Works For Me Wednesday: Kitchen Love

By Alan

While we often talk about about food in terms of love. We love chocolate, and we love those beautiful plates of ours. Many courtships got started with dinner and a movie, and romantic meals fixed for each other. Families bond over the dinner table, and in the kitchen while making meals.

But, does the love extend to everything in the kitchen? What about the appliances? We expect them to work, but we don't always give them the attention or the care necessary for them to work at their best, or for the longest. Where's the love?
